The Foot Centre and Adventure Racing
‘The only failure in life is a failure to participate’.
It all started on 26 December 2003 when Alison Fitzgerald, Director and podiatrist at The Foot Centre, decided to paddle the Red Cross Murray River Marathon … solo! The longest Alison had paddled previously was about three hours, so to undertake a five-day event covering 404 km of the beautiful Murray River was an amazing feat, which she completed in 46 hours, finished a remarkable second in her category.
From this event The Foot Centre Adventure Race Team grew. We have competed in many races since, including the Anaconda Adventure Race Series and many of the Sri Chinmoy races around Victoria and southern New South Wales.
The majority of Foot Centre race team members are not super athletes - we just enjoy spending weekends away with a great bunch of like-minded friends, working hard and seeing different areas of this great country. We also experience an amazing sense of achievement when completing a race or competing in a team.
For us it’s not so much about winning (although the men in our team may disagree), it’s about participating and pushing ourselves to be the best we can be, whatever we’re doing.
